DeColourant: Techniques Using this Product to Remove Color from Natural Fabrics

September 25, 2012 § Leave a comment

There are several YouTube tutorials  of techniques using DeColourant and DeColourant Plus to remove color from natural fabrics at these sites:

Introduction to DeColourant:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwvphvt9G4s&feature=relmfu

Shibori Techniques with DeColourant Part 1 is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usiyE6_OZBg

Sponging Techniques with DeColourant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqzs8257X0c&feature=relmfu

I used Clorox and Thiox in the past to take color out of fabric.  The fumes from this technique using these two products are toxic, so one has to be outdoors or use a respirator mask to be safe.

With DeColourant, there is no toxicity!  What a difference. It is not caustic or damaging to fabric either. This product bonds with the fabric and does not lie on top of it.  If you haven’t tried this, check out the tutorials and you decide.

You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It, Too!

This recipe, recommended by Dr. Oz, is fabulous!  Whatever  flavor cake mix you choose, the calories are what is listed on the box, because all you add to the mix is 12 ounces of club soda, and club soda has zero calories!

I first made a red velvet cake, and its calories were 140 for 1/ 12 of the cake.

Then on Sunday, I made a dark chocolate cake for a family dinner .  The calories were 160 for 1/10th of the cake for the boxed cake I had purchased.

This recipe keeps the cake fresh and moist for days.  And the cakes are delicious, too.

Nutritional info is on the box.

Hungry Girl’s Club Soda Chocolate Cake

Makes 12 servings.

Ingredients:

1 (15.25 oz.) box moist-style dark chocolate cake mix

1 (12 oz.) club soda

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Spray a 9″ x 13″ baking pan with non-stick spray

In a large bowl, whisk cake mix with club soda until smooth.  I followed the cake mix directions and using a mixer set on medium speed, mixing the batter for two minutes.

Pour batter into pan.

Bake until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. 30 to 35 minutes.  My oven was 25 minutes.

Enjoy!
